Shingle roofing material (asphalt or composition shingles) are the most common residential roof coverings in Florida and throughout the United States. Approximately 80% of all homes in the US have shingle roofing.
Asphalt shingles are made from a fiberglass mat saturated in asphalt with ceramic granules. This gives the shingles UV protections from sun exposure and other elements. Shingles are often warrantied for anywhere between 25 and 50 years, depending on the thickness and modifiers added to the asphalt. With proper installation, ventilation, and maintenance, your shingles should have no problem lasting the length of time they’re supposed to last.
Shingle Options
- 3 Tab Shingle – Standard asphalt or composition shingles. They come in strips with notches to resemble three separate shingles.
- Architectural or Dimensional Shingles – Premium asphalt or composition shingles. They’re thicker, sometimes laminated and offer a textured appearance. This option is more expensive.
